In the Spring of 2000, the Vermont Legislature enacted a new law authorizing towns to adopt conflict of interest ordinances. The Office of the Secretary of State offers an informational pamphlet for local officials and voters called "Drawing Clear Lines", and it describes the new law and provides a Conflict of Interest Model Policy.
